GRANDMA'S
BUTTONS
Design Ursula Woerner 2005
Buttons are something so ordinary we use and don't pay much attention too, though they are so different in colour and shape and origin. When I inherited the collection of buttons of my grandmother - with which I used to play as a child - it felt like gold in my hands. All these buttons had a life and have seen a lot, before they were collected in this old cigarbox.
Some of the buttons used in my jewellery are from granny, others collected on markets and shops. Using traditional techniques of goldsmithing for making settings as for precious stones replacing these with simply a button.
