The image of Santo Antônio has always possessed a miraculous fame since maidens in their prayers request for a boyfriend to marry.
In Brazil many girls anxious to find a husband would take the baby
from the arms of statue of the saint promising to give it back after
their wishes were fulfilled.
Therefore, some vicars ordered statues with baby Jesus bound to the saint´s body in order to avoid kidnapping of the baby.
The girls also put the image upside down and only turn it upside when
Santo Antonio finds them a husband.
